Local government is organized in 3 tiers – County, District and Parish levels. Prestwood is served by all 3 tiers. The Parish level knows the village in the greatest detail but is not empowered to the extent of the District tier which, in turn, is delegated only some of the authority of the County level.
The approval of developments (housing etc) is not part of Great Missenden Parish Council’s responsibility, although GMPC can make recommendations to Chiltern District Council. Some of the policies which govern planning decisions are listed at Approved Policies and Reports
