We have been around for 50 years
Prestwood has had a toddler group for about 50 years now. We believe it started in the late sixties when the mums of the village got together in the village hall, brought their own toys to share amongst the children while they enjoyed a cuppa and a chat. This became official and the Village Hall Playschool was formed.
Meet with other Parents
This principle still applies in the form of Prestwood Toddler Group which runs from the village hall every Wednesday 9.45-11.15 term time. It presents parents with somewhere to meet other parents in a relaxed and friendly environment, have a cuppa and a biscuit while the kids enjoy a selection of fresh fruit or play with the large selection of toys the group supplies. The craft table has a different theme every week. For example, for Mother’s Day, the children were able to decorate a cup and saucer or teapot then plant a flower in it.
Parties and Days out
They have a Christmas Party, a Summer Party and regular visits from establishments that are of interest like the fire service with a fire engine, Prestwood community preschool and Bucks Early Learning amongst others. The group is still run by volunteer mums and they are always seeking parents to either join the committee or just help with the weekly running of the session. This would involve setting up tables, preparing fresh fruit and packing away. Committee duties include organising events and dealing with the group’s finances and only requires a few hours a month. Without volunteer parents, the group would not exist so please get in touch if you would like to be involved and visit the Facebook page “Prestwood Toddler Groups”.
Prestwood Toddler Group Needs You!
Prestwood Toddler Group is a community group run by mums, carers and volunteers from the local area. Due to the natural progression of our committee members as their children grow, we are in need of new volunteers to help run the group.
**Without replacement committee members the Group can no longer run.**
We are confident that among you there will be individuals who can step up and help keep the Group running.
As a committee member you:
- attend every session free of charge!
- attend regularly which helps build your children’s confidence and socialisation
- increase your network and community links
- attend a meeting per term to help plan events and input into group matters
- gain a real sense of contribution and achievement
- have some volunteering experience which looks great on a career break CV
- do your bit to help keep the Group one of the best in the area!
If you are interested and would be prepared to devote a limited amount of time and effort to helping to keep the group running please come and speak to the ladies on the front desk or email us on email@example.com.
