This Moment – connecting with the present: An art competition run by Bucks CC  to raise awareness and get people talking about mental health.  Will officially launch to the public on 2 February 2015.  Open to anyone 11+ years and adults living, working or attending education in Buckinghamshire who has been touched by mental ill-health in some way or other (either through personal experience or by knowing a family member, friend, neighbour, colleague or client).  Looking for original artwork which can be hung on a wall and is no larger than A1 in size.

Lindengate – Provider Information Event, 11 February 2015, 10:30 am at The Old Allotment Site, Worlds End Garden Centre, Wendover, HP22 6BD.  Having run a successful provider launch in October,they now intend to open their doors to other individuals and organisations that were unable to attend on that occasion.  A reminder that Lindengate is a registered charity that provides gardening and horticultural activities to help those in Buckinghamshire dealing with mental health issues on their road to recovery.  Contact: Jane Gellatly,

The Bagnall Centre in Chesham hosts a fun and friendly supervised exercise class for both men and women who want to become more physically active and are worried about exercising with a controlled health condition.  Forever Young is taught by specially qualified personal trainer Hannah Shaw on a Wednesday morning at 11.15 to 12.15 at a subsidised cost of £5.  Hannah also teaches one to one lessons by arrangement. They are planning to run more similar classes for eg MS or Parkinson’s sufferers and would be delighted talk to prospective trainers or students. Relocation, Portability and Social Care Practice – moving to a new local authority with your social care package.  A report detailing the key findings of the research carried out by the University of Hull between 2012 and 2014 exploring the experiences of people who have received social care and moved to a new local authority and a report providing information based on the research can be viewed on – Multiple Sclerosis is the most serious neurological condition to affect people in their 20’s. It is an incurable disease that affects the optic nerve, brain and spinal cord. It’s affects are unpredictable and it can destroy a person’s life. Aid4disabled wants to make people more aware of MS and other long term progressive disabilities. Presentations on how to cope with the disabilities, making people aware of access problems and employment issues are some of the services available.

Carers Bucks New Support Groups for Carers – Iver Heath: meets at Iver Heath Village Hall on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm.  All family carers in the Iver Heath area are welcome to attend this group.

Chesham: a new Support Group will be starting in Chesham early in 2015.

Carers Bucks – has launched a new online forum on their main website to enable adult carers and those interested in carers’ issues to ask questions and/or discuss issues regarding support, training, money & legal matters and any matters of interest with Carers Bucks staff.  It is hoped that it will provide an opportunity for carers to support one another. To use the forum carers just need to register by completing the short online form. Once completed, they can go ahead and use it.  Carers Bucks will be responding to questions and queries, as well as moderating it for negative behaviour during working hours; Mondays – Fridays, 9am – 5pm.  A link to the forum can be found at

Safe + Well – This is a service run by NRS Healthcare and supported by Buckinghamshire County Council and the NHS.  Safe + Well can help you whether you are young or older, disabled, a carer, or simply need some help at home due to age or illness. We can help you find out what daily living aids are available and how they can make life easier for you. We can also tell you where you can try them out, or where you can buy them from. We have the added benefit of having trained Occupational Therapists, who you can call for free advice, or you can request a private home assessment for a charge.  Click here for further information

New Dementia Cafe in Iver – The Alzheimer’s Society are starting a Dementia Cafe at the Evreham Sports Centre in Iver on the second Tuesday of each month from 2.00 – 4.00 pm. Click here for further information

Advice Wycombe Website Launched – Advice Wycombe is a partnership of independent organisations, each of whom provide information and advice to people living in High Wycombe and the surrounding district, and is funded by the Big Lottery. All Advice Wycombe members provide confidential, impartial and independent advice, and are working together to make it easier for people to find good advice in the High Wycombe district.
