Support PVA

Prestwood Village Association was formed in the Autumn of 2012 by a small number of residents, and was provided some seed funding by Chiltern District Council.  In early 2013 a website was created, later in the Spring an AGM occurred and PVA was officially born. Since 2013 we have grown our subscriber list to over 900 people in Prestwood. We have over 50 pages on the website and over 450 news items. The community can now comment on news items when they are posted and we have over 350 comments on the site.

Thank you for your interest and your support, it has made it all worthwhile. But we are not done yet. We did not anticipate that PVA would become as popular as it is for a small village. That said we are not keen to stand still and we have lots of ideas emerging in terms of different directions we can head in. However we could not have achieved this success without the help of the volunteers who have been on the committee and the various groups mentioned on the Friends of page.  I am going to look at two ingredients for success; Volunteers and Donations.

Donations

Currently we do not spend very much at all each year. We are a wholly voluntary group with no premises. Our expenses relate to the website and email hosting and the AGM. We have run a couple of raffles in the past to raise some money, and more recently we have run raffles for the benefit of other groups. We do not make any charges for being a subscriber to the website it is all free. We do intend to keep it that way. We have benefitted from some donations by various groups, the most recent (May 2018) being Sweet Charity who have kindly funded the new version of this website.

We would like to start looking at ways we can build our funds in 2018. This will help us to do more in the community. You can find out about different ways you can help Prestwood Village Association through sponsorship or donatations by visiting the Fundraising page.

Volunteering

The other essential ingredient to success is have a group of like minded volunteers who wish to help make a difference. While we are happy to welcome anyone to apply to join the committee, there are other roles you can occupy in order to support us with our various initiatives.

We have community web editors, social media editors, community supporters, community champions. It does not have to be a prominent or leadership role, it could be behind the scenes role. But there is plenty to do. Each time we have had a Local Plan set of documents from Local Government to review it has taken many hours to filter through the information. We could not achieve it without the help of our volunteers. If you are interested in learning more, why not contact us, or visit this page.

Special Friends and Contributors

We also want to say a special big thank you to those organisations and individuals that have donated goods and services to help us when requested. You have helped to make our AGM’s more interesting, and helped us to raise money.

We also thank those people that have contributed in other ways such as providing media for the website. We recognise all members of those organisations and individuals on this page: Friends of PVA. We hope you have felt mutually supported by Prestwood Village Association through the website, by our helping to promote your events and activities. We very much look forward to working with you in the future.
