“Nottingham Knockers” Targeting Local Area

WARNING! “Nottingham Knockers” are targeting this area and surrounding villages – yet again in April 

“Nottingham Knockers” are currently operating in this area. This term, derived from the initial origin of these unscrupulous sellers, is applied to people (usually young men) who knock on your door and sell household items, such as dusters and cleaning products, at inflated prices. This is usually accompanied by a back story (for example, they may claim to have been recently released from prison) that legitimises the door step trade as a means to achieving a fresh start in life. Often this story is very plausible, believable even, but it is just that – a story; or more accurately, a lie. There is usually an ulterior motive, which may range from exploiting the vulnerable by repeatedly visiting, each time selling more of these household goods at inflated prices; to the more sinister, such as scoping out potential targets for burglary.
