Please Keep Prestwood Tidy

A message from our wonderful local litter pickers

We are proud of our village and should help where we can to keep our surroundings clean and tidy throughout the year for all to enjoy. When you are out and about exercising, how about making a mental note of where you have seen litter, and perhaps pop back to pick it up later, when you can safely do so? eg. wear disposable gloves and use a long-handled grabber if you have one. Pre-Covid, quarterly dedicated weekend litter picks were organised by Jeanette Hedley and more recently, Catherine Bunting, supported by our local Womble, Orinoco. With the current Coronavirus lockdown restrictions preventing us from coming together as a group, community litter picking events have been put on hold but several people are still keeping up the good work individually.

Let’s all make a conscious decision to make a difference over the coming weeks to our surroundings and emphasise to our children the benefits of doing this for the wildlife, community and planet. A poster “PLEASE KEEP OUR VILLAGE TIDY”, with Orinoco the Womble is attached for children to colour and a word search for their amusement.
