Prestwood Community Association AGM

Prestwood Community Association (PCA) has pleasure in inviting all Prestwood residents and stakeholders to its first AGM.  After reviewing PCA’s first year, we shall move on to the really important business of discussing future plans.

Venue:  Prestwood Methodist Church.  Time and date:  6.30pm for 7pm, Thursday 18th September.

By the yardsticks set out at PCA’s launch (https://prestwoodcommunity.uk/pca-launch/), year one was a promising start, in particular in collaborations and participation of volunteers: 

• The new planters at the junction of Nairdwood Lane and High Street were a real community effort, with help at every stage from local residents, businesses, groups and organisations.
• PCA was one of several contributors, led by GMVA, to the installation of new information boards in Angling Spring Woods.
• The inaugural ‘Prestwood Big Week’ featured no fewer than 13 events. Especially exciting was the participation of a range of groups and organisations, residents and businesses, who organised or hosted events. The Big Week raffle benefitted also from the generosity of multiple businesses and individuals.

The resulting friendships and network should hold PCA in good stead in its work for the village.

The Future 

PCA is very anxious for residents to bring their views and ideas to the AGM.

PCA has already undertaken to carry out a survey of residents, and a ‘Community Safety’ work stream.  The survey will be especially important, to gather information on what residents consider important, and to act as a vital evidence base for seeking funding. 

Further projects have been identified to improve the village and its environment.  PCA is also keen to promote improvements in the village’s pavements and footpaths.    

An active group of volunteers is core to PCA’s success.  Could you join its ranks?  From joining the Committee to lead an activity, to being part of a working group, to giving time to a specific project, volunteering can take many different forms, with varied time commitments.  Please contact PCA on info@prestwoodcommunity.uk for more information.
